Senator Saraki Intended Hajj Sponsorship Gesture: My Take -Bolaji Aladie

I don’t just know why this hullabaloo and unneeded noise because of someone intention to send people on pilgrimage. No qualm if the fund for that religion project is product of his sweat, only if not shall it become subject of discussion but so far we can’t prove that, we should allow almighty Allah to adjudge on it.

We shouldn’t also forget that every act shall be judged according to intention as stated in Hadith one of An-Nawawi collection quoted below…

” Umar ibn Al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, deeds are only with intentions. Verily, every person will have only what they intended. Whoever emigrated to Allah and His Messenger, then his emigration is for Allah and His Messenger. Whoever emigrated to get something in the world or to marry a woman, then his emigration is for whatever he emigrated for.

Based on Hadith quoted above, Allah will reward the person who intends to sponsor the act and those who shall benefit from the pilgrimage gesture. However, we should remind ourselves that Hajj is the last pillar of Islam five important doctrines and it comes after adherence to the first four which are: Obedience to Allah and attestation to prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), Observation of 5 daily prayer, Giving Zakat and Fasting during the forthcoming month of Ramadan. The pilgrimage which comes last is with important clause evident in the scripture ﻭَﻟِﻠَّﻪِ ﻋَﻠَﻰ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺎﺱِ ﺣِﺞُّ ﺍﻟْﺒَﻴْﺖِ ﻣَﻦِ ﺍﺳْﺘَﻄَﺎﻉَ ﺇِﻟَﻴْﻪِ ﺳَﺒِﻴﻠًﺎ (“And Pilgrimage to the House is incumbent upon men for the sake of Allah, (upon)every one who is able to undertake the journey to it;….”

It is therefore pertinent to know that our desire to perform Hajj is conditioned on that clause of if we have the wherewithal (Finance, Health and others) . By this, what is benefit of Hajj to someone who couldn’t afford 3 square meal a day? What is benefit of Hajj to someone who find it difficult to cater for the responsibilities of his immediate family? What shall it profit a faithful who benefit from free Hajj ticket and return from holy land into abject and penury? I knew of one of our central Mosque securities who benefitted free Hajj slot from our governor few years ago and returned to that same menial job. I am quite sure he is not collecting ₦60k as salary yet he was sponsored on Hajj that cost roughly ₦700k as of then. Let us imagine what ₦700k would have done in his life had it been it was given to him to start business with proper mentorship from government. As we are doing that, Hajj fares this year can also not less than ₦850k, imagine what the transformation this huge sum will do in life of those whom are to be sponsored on pilgrimage, I believe the beneficiaries would largely be those who cannot boast of ₦250k in their account.

Another perspective is that;  religious gesture should be thing of personal as the reward is coming from Allah perhaps, this one is for political sympathy, patronage and support, only time would tell. Aside that, the gesture is not first of its kind and will never be the last. There are thousand if not millions of people who are not holding any political post or expecting political favours who’ve been sending people on Hajj year in year out. Known to me and notable are people like: Alh. Leke Shittu of Offa who is a disciple of Shaykh Jamiu Bulala (RTA), Alh. Muslim Akinsaya MC Oluọmọ of Oshodi (Lagos NURTW Treasurer), Alhaji Najeemudeen Yasin (National President of NURTW and ODU),  Alh. Tajudeen Agbẹdẹ (Lagos NURTW Chairman) Sunday Igboho (A Renown Hustler/Bigboy in OYo State), Shaykh Suleiman Faruq, Alh. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma (Popular Fuji Act), Fadhilat Shaykh Qudus Kọrọ and many other notable personalities who are doing it on Fisẹbilillah and not “FisẹbiliVotes“.

It is now imperative for Senate President media team to stop foiling

Senator Imam Abubakar Bukọla Saraki recent religious gestures with politics and unneeded media hypes and attention. The more they are doing that, the more they will continue to be daunted with reaction that will wash off the rewards and commendations that their principal might have enjoined.

May Allah rewards us and accept our Ibadah.
