The country home of widely travelled socialite and politician, Otunba Olabode Oyedepo (De Way) has been put in lock by security operatives over connection its owner has with Ayoade Akinnibosun (aka AY), Ibikunle Ogunleye (aka Arrow) and Adeola Abraham; three of the gang leaders recently paraded in connection with Offa banks robbery incident. According to report, the said building which located in Oro town, Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State has been serving as abode for the suspects prior to their involvement in the robbery incidence.
The suspects alongside 19 others were arrested last month for the prime roles they played in heinous act of April 5 which reportedly led to the death of 33 people including nine policemen and pregnant women.
However, after news broke that Arrow has been arrested in connection with the robbery incident, the elder sister of De Way, Yemisi Oyedepo otherwise known as Iya Sunbo was said to have evacuated friends and families of the suspects from her brother’s house before security agents from the Police headquarters, Ilorin, sealed up the building.
Prior to his relocation to Canada about three years ago, De Way who had earlier taken a shot at the Kwara South Senatorial ticket, lived in the building with the suspects in addition to taken care of their upkeep.
The duo of Akinnibosun and Ogunleye accompanied De Way to meetings and other public functions in the state and beyond ahead of 2011 and 2015 general elections.
In response to an enquiry about his connection with the suspects, Chief Bode De Way said, “No doubt I know them. Especially AY and Arrow. My association with them is not just political but guidance to better life.”
“As I write now, I’m pained especially for Arrow. A little over a year ago I just gave him N500,000 to relocate to Oshogbo where I have a commercial interest and offered him employment.”
“He only rented a flat and dumped his wife and only son there without reporting to the job I offered. Should I then be held accountable for his actions? No! On AY and the poor mechanics on parade, I still maintain they are innocent and I pray that the same power currently using them as a political weapon design a way to exonerate them.”
