Mustapha Akambi: Our Moral Compass Is No More – Lukman Mustapha

It is with deepest shock and total dismay that I received news of the demise of a father figure, Rtd. Justice Mustapha Muhammad Adebayo Akanbi who passed on early hours of today barely three months to his 86th birthday.

Kwara and indeed the entire nation have lost a patriot, an epitome of uprightness and a scarce moral compass in our society today

It is indeed a tragic occurrence that we lost such an important national figure, especially at this crucial time when his wealth of experiences is needed to navigate our State and the nation at large to a desired end.

Hon. Justice Mustapha Akanbi’s life and death is indeed a great lesson to all who care to learn. He was a rare shining light in the Nigerian corruption infested public sector, he was an incorruptible judicial officer in the light of the founding fathers of the legal profession. He is a selfless, peace loving, religious, detribalised and respected elder statesman who is always available for the service of his people and community.

While Baba have already immortalised himself with his unambiguous contribution the legal profession, anti-coruption fight and Religion, the Mustapha Akanbi foundation will undoubtedly be one of the lasting legacies of Baba.

I therefore commiserate with the immediate family members of Baba Mustapha Akanbi, our father, His Royal Highness, Mai Martaba

Emir of Ilorin and entire Ilorin Emirate councils on the shocking demise of one of the most adorable prides of the community.

May almighty Allah be  pleased with his return unto him and reckoned him among his pious servants. May the vacuum his transition leaves behind never be left unfilled with people of substance like Baba Mustapha Akanbi, who will achieve more than his enviable heights.
