Defection: PDP Loses NEC Member From Kwara To APC

There seems to be no close ending to the tide of defections rocking the boat of the two major political parties in Nigeria as People Democratic Party (PDP) lost one of its National Executive Council members Hon. Ahmed Yinka Aluko who is the only representative of Kwara State in the party national hierachy to the arch-rival APC. Hon. Aluko who was the party flagbearer as deputy governor in the 2015 elections not only resigned his position but at the same time denounced his party membership to join All progressives Congress.

The former security adviser to the Kwara State government alleged the leadership of PDP of impunity and lack of regards for democratic tenets.

In his resignation letter made available to this medium, it reads…

“I wish to briefly states my commitment and that of others that remained in PDP when Saraki-led group left the party in 2014 with all the structures. We remained to build the party towards the 2015 Election, which we lost.”

“But our loyalty in the party became stronger with determination to reposition the party with our efforts, the party became a household name in Kwara State and acceptable to the people. This was demonstrated in the November 17 Local Government Election that was overwhelmingly won by the PDP, even Senator Saraki lost in his polling boot, ward and local government (Ilorin West).”

“It is therefore shocking that the party at the National level have resolved to hand over the party structures and all electable positions to defectors without any regards for those who stood by the party and build it into a strong winning machine in Kwara State. This is even more shocking that as the only National Officer of the Party in Kwara State and NEC Member from Kwara State was not consulted.”

“On the strength of the above, which I consider as impunity, I hereby tender my resignation from the National Executive Council (NEC) as well as my membership of the PDP party to enable me go to a more democratic platform.

Thank you and God bless.”
